How To Open A Locked Upvc Window Without A Key

  1. How-do-you-do i've got a upvc front end door which is in the locked position and we have no key.

A friend suggested I try to drill the barrel of the lock out, kickoff with a pilot hole followed past a x to 12mm hole using HSS bits. When I tried the pilot drill bit just snapped and the larger chip will make absolutely no impression at all.

Would appreciate any suggestions for getting this door unlocked and opened without causing damage to the door and frame itself.

  2. If it's locked with the five point locking system, drilling out the barrel is the only way I know of to open it without damage.
  3. Cheers Phil, whatsoever suggestions on type/make of drill scrap? I got standard HSS $.25 from B&Q but the wont touch it
  4. Why don't yous remove the handle and snap the barrel?

  5. How do y'all do that then without damaging the door.
  6. Drill bit wise, something like these.

  7. Information technology's non always possible, but with some doors you can remove the hinges, pull the door out, back and downward to at least become more than access to the lock and screw. Some locks tin can and so have the screw undone a bit, then belted with a hammer, to snap the lock.

  8. I'm non even certain that you demand a cobalt drill unless it's a loftier security lock...If it is, and so yous're fooked. I would endeavor decent Dormer or similar (not B&Q or Chinese rubbish) and utilize a lubricant such equally Supacut or Rocol. Practiced luck.
  9. PTP. Why would snapping the barrel damage the door? JJ1, How does the door being locked brand any difference to removing the handle and snapping the butt...I'thou bold you can become into the property through another door?
  10. I'thousand really intrigued at present, please explane how you would do it.
  11. Explain how snapping the butt will harm the door
  12. All Euro style barrels are hands snapped, anti snapping barrels withal snap but keep the cam in place and then as not to allow access to the locking machinery, which again is easily turned with a screwdriver or similar, snapping barrels from outside with the handle on providing the correct length of butt has been fitted is difficult, from the inside with the handle removed gives you plenty of the barrel to strike it from the elevation snapping information technology in half allowing admission to the locking machinery, turn it and the door opens. Remove plates and butt spiral and replace with a new barrel, supervene upon handle...most upvc fitters use this method if there are no keys for the door, again not so like shooting fish in a barrel from the outside. Drilling the butt requires information technology to be completely removed.
  13. The force need to snap the barrel will undoubtedly impairment the locking machinery, the plastic of the door around the barrel and I'g still intrigued as to how snapping the barrel opens the door, your turn. :)
  14. Ok your mail service appeared while I was typing, if it's that like shooting fish in a barrel I'd be shocked but if it works and then then be information technology.
  15. snap the barrel so turn the locking mech like shooting fish in a barrel peasy !! information technology wont damage the lock mech . personally id pick it
  16. I know, when a guy showed me a few years ago merely how easy it was to open a Euro style lock, I stopped fitting them and went back to the five lever, no choice on Upvc I know but as information technology stands I only take one set of French doors and I have sash jammers fitted. I think I'g right in maxim that most of the Euros are not insurance rated.

    Cheers

  17. i always fit Avocet ABS euros to my doors nightmare to option ,and they snap before the cam . in that location is a fashion of bypassing them but not to be posted on here
  18. Go one of the neighbours to phone the law and tell them your selling drugs... The door volition soon be open ;-)
  19. Hopefully the part that BLUEJACKET mentioned well-nigh snapping of the barrel will piece of work from the INSIDE (where more butt is exposed) should give some reassurance of security... :)
