Window Framing

Window-Framing

Building a shed window may sound like a tricky task. But a timber window frame is designed to back up the weight placed on the wall by using studs to transfer the load. To add a window to an existing shed or log motel – at the top, cripple studs carry the load from the top plate down to the header. Along the sides of the frame window existing , king, and jack studs support the header and transfer the load to the floor. At the bottom of the shed wall opening, two boards are nailed together to form a sill, supported by the cripple studs. Although the sill doesn't support any weight, it does anchor the bottom of the window in place.

Door Framing

Door-Framing
The virtually important office of framing a door opening is getting the dimensions right. Both the height and width must exist framed larger than the door itself. For a typical pre-hung door, add v.i cm to the width and 6.4 cm to the height. This allows plenty room for the door jamb, leaving 1.3 cm to shim the opening in order for the door unit to exist to plumb and level.
